Building a Pool or Remodeling a Pool

There is a lot to consider when you are thinking about having a pool constructed or remodeled. The first and most crucial step is to choose a reputable builder in your area. There are a lot of horror stories out there and I have seen some bad jobs done by unqualified contractors.

So do your research and get the best builder for your project. If your main criteria are price then you will probably get burned. The price of the project needs to be reasonable but as the saying goes, 'you get what you paid for.”

Here is a video that will go over some of the aspects of what is involved in building a pool. I work with Huntington Pools Inc in the Los Angeles, Pasadena, San Marino, and surrounding areas. They have been building pools since 1988 and several of the pool built by them are on my pool route. Their work is top notch as you can see from the video.

So read online articles about getting a pool constructed and do a lot of research on your builder. Visit pools he has constructed and talked to clients to see how their experience was with the builder.

You will be investing a lot of money in the project so it pays to hire the right company. I can't emphasize this point enough. I maintain a few accounts that the owner's regret the look of their pool and it is hard to do anything about it after the fact.

Here are some helpful videos for you.

Brief Videos on Pool Surface Choices

Here is a set of four videos covering pool surface types. Note that I left out Fiberglass and Vinyl as they are not commonly used in my area. They are a popular choice elsewhere and they are perfectly fine choices for your pool surface. I really like fiberglass pools but no one builds them in my area.
